Chapel at Lipscomb

2014-15 Chapel theme: Journey

Student speaking in chapel.

With this year’s theme being Journey, our ultimate goal is to encourage the Lipscomb community to journey towards Jesus by walking with Jesus and thus becoming more like Jesus. Week to week, this looks like encouraging and equipping students to faithfully walk out different aspects of their journey. We will be using the metaphor of a quintessential college road trip, exploring the different aspects of a journey that convey various spiritual truths and challenges.

Jesus said “I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”
Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
Jesus answered, “I am the way..”
John 14:3-6

The Purpose of Chapel

We truly believe that the communal pursuit of God is one of our primary callings as followers of Jesus. Chapel exists to provide consistent and intentional opportunities for the Lipscomb family to commune with God through prayer, worship, and the study of His Word.

The Gathering

The Gathering is a time when our entire campus comes together for worship in Allen Arena on Tuesdays. During this time of communal worship, the message of God is communicated by passionate speakers and through a variety of creative expressions. This large gathering also gives the opportunity for ‘community moments,’ where we recognize notable events and people from the Lipscomb family.

Breakout Chapels

Breakout chapels give a more intimate opportunity for students to come together in smaller venues across campus with specific but differing ways to pursue God. Each Thursday, students can choose between the many opportunities available. These opportunities will be communicated through the weekly Chapel email.
