Lipscomb University's Center for Spiritual Renewal was established to assist church leaders with their spiritual growth. More often than not, preachers and elders are so busy doing good works that they have little time for prayer and Bible study. What study time they do have is usually spent in preparation for some lesson to be taught rather than time spent feasting on the living word of God for themselves.
The Center, with its emphasis on devotional life, has been designed to help church leaders see the importance of their own devotional lives. Several years ago, Willard Collins, president-emeritus, and Dr. Carl McKelvey, executive vice president/administration, spent one day per week traveling and talking with elders and preachers. During that time, they discovered that church leaders were starving spiritually. They were too busy for private devotionals. From those experiences grew the determination to develop a program that would help solve the problem.
We believe we have done just that with the Center for Spiritual Renewal. We solicit your help and your prayers for this work. Dr. Carl McKelvey is director of the Center, assisted by Shirley Stansbury. For full information about upcoming events, contact the Center at 615.279.9942.
