Service-Learning in the Classroom
The SALT Program addresses three fundamental and important areas of student learning: academic, personal/spiritual, and civic.
Service-learning activities enhance the academic framework by allowing students to observe the application of an academic idea in a practical setting. In this way, service activities function as a "textbook" that enhances student understanding. In service-learning experiences, academic credit is given for demonstrated learning, not for the service hours completed.
