Location and Staffing
Located in the basement of Elam Hall, next to the Nurse's Clinic, Lipscomb Security & Safety serves the Lipscomb community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to respond to any emergency and/or report of criminal actions to provide security to campus. LS&S main telephone number (7600) serves as our emergency number and shoudl be used to report any emergency situation. In addition we have Security Officers that regularly patrol campus in marked vehicles, a marked golf cart, or on foot.
LS&S includes a staff of 21 people who address the patrolling, parking/traffic, crime prevention/deterrance, communications, and investigations related to the security and safety of all of the Lipscomb campuses. The staff is comprised of qualified personnel, most who have college degrees, some with prior police and/or military experience, in addtiion to the personal skills and talents, which aid their performance as employees of LS&S. There are 11 full time uniformed Security Officers, 3 uniformed Student Officers, and one part time weekend/special event Security Officer who attend in-service training, as well as regular recertification in CPR/First Aid. Most of the Security Officers have completed testing for state of Tennessee certification as Security Officers. LS&S considers training of Security Officers a top priority. Security Officers receive training in many areas, such as classes on terrrorism, patrol techniques, defensive tactics, interviewing, and state law, to name a few. Our Officers train year round and are encouraged to seek out training opportunities.
