Location and Staffing
With the Security Administrative offices located in the basement of Elam Hall, next to the Nurse's Clinic, and our Dispatch Center located in the basement of beaman Library, Lipscomb Security & Safety is poised to serve the Lipscomb community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Our Officers (both Armed and Unarmed) are trained to respond to any emergency and/or report of criminal activity on campus. Our main telephone number (966-7600; or just dial 7600 from any landline campus phone) serves as our emergency number and should be used to report any emergency situation. We have Security Officers that regularly patrol campus in marked vehicles, a marked golf cart, or on foot.
Lipscomb Security & Safety includes a staff of 23 people who address the patrolling, parking/traffic, crime prevention/deterrance, communications, administrative, and investigations related to the security and safety of all of the Lipscomb campuses. The staff is comprised of qualified personnel, most who have college degrees, and many with prior police and/or military experience, in addtiion to the personal skills and talents, which aid their performance as employees of Lipscomb Security & Safety. There are currently 15 full time uniformed Security Officers, one part time uniformed Security Officer, 4 Dispatchers, one Adminstrative Assistant, two Assistant Directors, and one Director. All Lipscomb Security Officers are certified by the state of Tennessee as Armed or Unarmed Security Officers. Lipscomb Security & Safety considers training of Security Officers a top priority. Security Officers receive training in many areas, such as classes on terrrorism, patrol techniques, defensive tactics, interviewing, firearms (Armed Officers only), and state law, on an annual basis. Our Officers train year round and are encouraged to seek out training opportunities.
