Sharon Brumit Farmer, David Lipscomb Elementary School coordinator, began teaching at the elementary school in 1993. Prior to that time, the years 1974-76, Sharon was the David Lipscomb High School choral director and middle school music teacher. Her other teaching positions have been at Nashville Christian School and in the Franklin Kentucky School System. Her non-teaching background includes everything from catering to accounting.
Mrs. Farmer is a native of Bowling Green, Kentucky. She received her BA in English from David Lipscomb College in 1972 and her BA in Music Education from Pepperdine in 1974. In 2005 she received her M.Ed. in School Administration and Supervision from Lipscomb University. Along with her duties as coordinator, in 2006 she began serving on the Board of Accreditation for the National Christian Schools Association (NCSA).
Sharon Farmer is married with three adult children. She and her husband live in an historic neighborhood where they renovated a house built in 1899. She is a member of the Woodmont Hills Church of Christ where she serves in the worship ministry and as a teacher in the women’s ministry.
As Mrs. Farmer serves DLES in the capacity of coordinator, she hopes to continue its 115-year-old tradition of excellence in education and spiritual formation. “As a Christian college-preparatory school, it is vital that we give our students the skills they need to succeed in the marketplace and the heart that they need to serve the people they meet there. Our position as a PK-12 school vitally connected to a Christian university gives us the unique opportunity to carry out such a mission.”
