What is a GradMap? It is an online tool that you can use to compare your earned credits, transferred credits and registered credits to the requirements of your program, degree, major and minor. While every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of this report, please remember that it is an unofficial report and should be used in conjuction with your catalog and advisor to track your academic progress toward your degree completion. [Back to Top]
How do I access my GradMap? Students: Login to myLipscomb using your network username and password. Under Student Links in the center of the screen, under Quick Links, click on GradMap. Follow the onscreen instructions for more information. Advisors: Login to myLipscomb using your network username and password. Under Faculy Links and under Quick Links, click on GradMap. Follow the onscreen instructions for more information. [Back to Top]
What is a What-If Analysis? This tool will show you how courses you have already taken would match up against a different program or major. Click the "What-If Analysis" instead of "Generate Evaluation" to utilize this feature. If you are considering switching majors, be sure to discuss this with an advisor. [Back to Top]
What do I do if I believe the GradMap is not applying a course(s) correctly to my degree?
- If it's a general education course, contact the Registrar's Office at GradMap@Lipscomb.edu.
- If it's an approved major or minor substitution, it may not have been entered into our new system yet. Please click http://registrar.lipscomb.edu/page.asp?SID=55&Page=6256 to request that substitution.
- You may also have your advisor or department chair click http://registrar.lipscomb.edu/page.asp?SID=55&Page=6257 to request the substitution so we can enter it into the GradMap system. [Back to Top]
When should I run a GradMap? You should run a GradMap before meeting with your advisor to discuss upcoming registrations. You should also run a GradMap after registration to confirm that your newly registered courses are in line with your degree plan. You should also run a GradMap the semester before you graduate to be sure that you have met the necessary degree requirements. [Back to Top]
Do courses I have failed show up in GradMap? No, any course with the grade of "F" or "W" will not show up anywhere in the GradMap because it cannot meet a requirement. [Back to Top]
What do I do if my records says "No curriculum information found"? This message means you are either undeclared or your program has not been built in the GradMap software yet. (Ex. Graduate programs and MAcc program). If you are undeclared, you may run a "What-If Analysis" and find the program you wish to evaluate. If you are trying to run a program that has not been built yet, check back often for additional program updates. You may email GradMap@Lipscomb.edu to get a time estimate of when your program will be built. [Back to Top]
I am thinking of changing my major. Can GradMap help me see how my courses might fit a different major? Yes. The "What-If Analysis" will show you how courses you have already taken would match up against a different program. It would also show you which courses you would still have left to take in the new major. If you are seriously considering a major change, be sure to discuss this with an advisor. [Back to Top]
What is the expected graduation date at the top of my GradMap? This date does not always reflect your actual expected graduation date. The expected graduation date is set to a later date than is probable so that loan companies do not put students in repayment status too early. You can ignore this date on your GradMap report. [Back to Top]
What if I am a double major? You can only run one GradMap at a time* (*see exception). If both majors are listed on your record, there should be a radio button next to each program so you can select which program you want to run first. After you have run the first major, click "Generate New Evaluation" at the bottom of the page and then choose and run a GradMap on the second major. *Exception: If both of your majors are housed within the same program code, you can run both majors at the same time. Example: The Foreign Language program code houses both Spanish and German majors, so a student who is declared with those two majors should be able to see requirements for both majors on his/her GradMap. [Back to Top]
How do I get my concentration to show up on a What-If Analysis? You must click the "Add More" button after choosing your major on Step 3. You can then add a concentration to evaluate. Not all majors have concentrations. Consult the catalog listings to see if your major has a concentration. [Back to Top]
How do I get my minor to show up on a What-If Analysis? You must click the "Add More" button after choosing your major on Step. 3. Click the "Add More" button again to add a minor. If you are a double major, you do not have to have a minor. Also, some majors have built in minors. Consult the catalog listings to see if your major has a built-in minor. [Back to Top]
Are Graduate programs available on GradMap? No, not yet. Graduate programs will be added in the next few months. [Back to Top]
What hours can I view my GradMap? Your GradMap is available all the time on myLipscomb except during the back-up period each night between 1 AM and 3 AM. [Back to Top]
Does the GradMap include currently enrolled courses? Yes, registered courses fall into place just like courses that have already been earned because it assumes you will complete those courses. They are noted with an "R" in the source code column of the GradMap. Also, no grade will be listed in the grade column since no grade has been earned yet. NOTES: If the requirement this course is meeting requires a specific grade and that grade is not earned at the end of the term, the class will fall off of the GradMap since it no longer meets the requirement. If the course is dropped, it will fall off of the GradMap since it no longer meets the requirement. [Back to Top]
Will my transfer courses appear on the degree evaluation? Yes, as soon as the courses are entered onto your transcript by the Registrar's Office staff, the courses will fall into your GradMap. If you would like to know the status of your transfer work, please contact the Registrar's Office at Registrar@Lipscomb.edu. If your courses are entered onto your transcript but are not appearing where you think they should in your GradMap, please email GradMap@Lipscomb.edu. [Back to Top]
What is the General Requirements screen? This option is another way to organize your GradMap. It is not recommended because the "Detail Requirements" screen is much more thorough. The "General Requirements" screen is not formatted for printing and only shows what area your courses fall into, instead of listing the requirements and which courses meet the requirements. [Back to Top]
What is a course attribute? A course attribute identifies specific characteristics of courses that can be used in a GradMap (ex. Physical Science). [Back to Top]
