College of Professional Studies

Where experience meets education

Undergraduate Programs

Adult students know what they want in life—a rewarding career, a way to give back, a good future for their family—but sometimes the traditional undergraduate education process just won’t work with their busy lives. They need a rigorous academic program that is flexible enough to work with job and family responsibilities and that will lead them to a career that is allows them to make a difference. The College of Professional Studies has a faculty, and staff that understands those problems, and provides students with a plan to meet their goals efficiently, flexibly, and inexpensively. The first step is applying and coming in for a one day assessment that could save up to one year of college. In less than 3 years, most students have a degree and are on their way to a brighter career and future for them and their families.

Graduate Programs

You may wonder if earning a graduate degree or certificate while working full time is possible. It is with Lipscomb's master of professional studies in organizational leadership, a broad-based graduate degree designed for working professionals. Students who pursue this degree will participate in a behavioral assessment through which they can earn up to six credits based on experience. Students will then stack two of our leadership certificates to round out the 30-hour master's degree.

Academic and Employer Partners

A significant portion of the college’s work is providing adult learner education to major employers through our competency-based employee development program. Using a model proven by such companies as Nike, Dow Corning, and AT&T, the college’s CORE assessment program is a significant and successful tool for investing in employees a company wants to retain and develop as leaders.

What is competency-based education?

Lipscomb is a leader in competency-based education. In shorthand, this means you get credit for specific skills and abilities you’ve already learned in your career and can target your learning to the areas you want to develop to meet future goals. This can save time, money and/or create an opportunity for additional valuable courses that meet a student’s goals.
