Dr. Scott Akers Granted Tenure

 

Dr. Scott Akers, Chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, has been granted tenure with Lipscomb University. His approval for tenure was recently approved by the Lipscomb University Board of Trustees.  

Dr. Akers has played a vital role in the development of the College of Pharmacy. He has been a member of the Leadership Team since the inception of the College in 2007. During the past four years plus, Dr. Akers has demonstrated leadership abilities in recruiting, developing and mentoring a faculty capable of teaching across multiple disciplines in the pharmaceutical sciences. Department leadership of a varied group of talented individuals has led to formation of a highly integrated and productive team.
 
As Department Chair and a member of the faculty, Dr. Akers has demonstrated skills in managing multiple developmental and academic initiatives simultaneously. Each skill has facilitated establishment of a well documented processes and/or successful outcomes. From classroom lectures to scientific presentations to concept presentations, Dr. Akers can judge the level of presentation needed and adjust to meet the needs of the audience. His personal skills in teaching a variety of these disciplines are exemplary, especially in the area of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. Dr. Akers has led the Department by example in modeling academic excellence in terms of teaching, service, and scholarship. Dr. Akers is well respected and trusted by students who appreciate his sincere interest in and devotion of time to their personal development. He is regarded as a very disciplined and challenging instructor with high expectations of student pharmacists.
