Lipscomb University College of Pharmacy offers multiple exclusive residency program opportunities to graduates. These residency opportunities exist to train pharmacists in professional practice and provide experience in integrating pharmacy services with the comprehensive needs of individual practice settings. Residencies provide in depth experiences leading to advanced practice skills and knowledge. The residency programs offered by Lipscomb University College of Pharmacy also encompass a Teaching and Learning certificate program to facilitate the career development of the next group of pharmacy educators. Pharmacy Practice Residency Maury Regional Medical Center (MRMC) and Lipscomb University College of Pharmacy (LUCOP) have formed a collaboration to offer a two post-graduate year one (PGY-1) general inpatient pharmacy practice residencies. This unique residency merges inpatient and outpatient care with academia. The majority of the resident’s six-week clinical rotations will occur at MRMC, a 275-bed regional medical center located in Columbia, Tennessee. The resident will become an expert in managing a variety of disease states and caring for a wide range of populations from premature infants to geriatric patients.
Ambulatory Care Residency?The residency program is designed for those seeking a second year of specialized pharmacy training. The residency will have the opportunity to work with an underserved population as well in a private practice area. The resident will be highly trained to develop treatment plans for a number of chronic disease states and improve the overall quality of health of the patients.
Community Pharmacy Residency?The residency program consists of two position at two independent community pharmacies. Marcrom’s Pharmacy and Perkin’s Drugs incorporates innovative workflow to facilitate face-to-face time for pharmacists with patients. The resident will participate in drug therapy decisions with physicians, nurses, and pharmacists, and develop methods for improvement in care, as well as providing drug information and patient advocacy.
Managed Care Residency?The residency program with BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee is a unique partnership that allows training of pharmacy graduates in the field of managed care. The pharmacy team manages those benefits through formulary management and clinical programs designed to improve the quality of patient care. The resident will have hands on experience in this process with the mission to provide peace of mind to their customers and communities through affordable solutions for health and healing, life and living.
Pharmacy Informatics Residency?In partnership with Vanderbilt University Medical Center, this residency program will offer specialized training and education for pharmacists and prepare them to become innovators and leaders in the field of informatics. The resident will develop competencies and skills in the areas of pharmacy informatics, medication safety and academia, while applying pharmacy informatics principles and best practices.
Psychiatric Pharmacy Residency?This unique residency experience couples psychiatric inpatient and outpatient care with academia. A majority of the resident’s clinical experience will occur at Rolling Hills Hospital, an 80-bed facility serving adolescent, adult and geriatric patients with psychiatric illness. The resident will learn to treat patients diagnosed with a number of psychiatric disorders to improve patient outcomes.
