3 Year BA Govt and Publ Admin

If you follow politics and read the news, you've probably thought long and hard about what you would do to bring about change... if only you knew how. A major in Government and Public Administration at Lipscomb will show you how. The program provides a strong background in politics, with additional courses in accounting, economics and management.

With this training, you'll be able to find a career in public administration, whether you want to work on the local level to improve your community, or go to the top in Washington, D.C. Graduates can find positions in governance, national security, Foreign Service, city planning, management and administration at the local, state and federal levels.

Why Study Government and Public Administration at Lipscomb?
The Department of History, Politics and Philosophy offers strong programs, taught by distinguished faculty. Three of our department members have received the Outstanding Teacher Award in the past five years. All seven of our full-time faculty members hold a Ph.D.

Our faculty members are dedicated scholars, but they're approachable, too. Faculty members have an open door policy with students. In addition to training and instruction, the professors in this department see themselves as mentors, who help prepare students not just for their careers, but for eternity.

When it comes to graduate study, our students have a very strong record. Nearly 100 percent of our graduates who apply to graduate school and law school are accepted. To view some of the schools our graduates have gone on to attend, see the list below.

The program provides real world experience, as well. Students have the opportunity to enroll in internships in political science and history. We help students find places with local, national and international host agencies.

There are also opportunities for periodic study tours to Europe, led by department members. An annual seminar in Washington, D.C. can be attended for political science credit.

Scholarships
The Lewis Maiden Scholarship is available to all students in the department. These limited awards range from $500 to $1,500 per academic year. Depending on available funding, up to five or six students can benefit from this fund during any given year.

"Author Walker Percy once warned students against the temptation to make straight A's in school, yet proceed to 'go out and flunk life.' Introduced to the disciplines of history, politics and philosophy in a Christian environment, our students become both impressive scholars and excellent servant leaders."
