Medical Nutrition Therapy Focus

The dietetics program at Lipscomb University offers an accredited Dietetic Internship (DI) Program. The Lipscomb Dietetic Internship Program currently accepts 12 interns during the Spring Match with a 99% graduation rate and 82% first time RD exam pass rate over a 5 year period to date. The Lipscomb Internship is excited to have partnered with over 18 different healthcare and community organizations where practicum experiences are completed. Internship orientation, assigned graduate classes and practicum rotations make up the program which begins in early August and ends mid-May.  

The LU Dietetic Internship Program is competitive and comprehensive, with a focus on medical nutrition therapy in multiple settings.  The internship consists of approximately 38 weeks of rotations in clinical, community and foodservice/management settings of dietetics in the Middle Tennessee area (drive time expected up to 1 hour for some rotations). The program internship fee pays for students to attend the annual Food and Nutrition Conference of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND), the Tennessee Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (TAND) Spring Meeting, and an RD exam workshop offered by Breeding & Associates, as well as other workshops and opportunities that become available each year. Graduate school tuition is currently $910 per credit hour (x 3 hours) equaling $2,730 and the internship fee is $8,000 per program year.  Total cost for the 2014-15 program year except for living costs, travel costs, textbooks and supplies, and the optional graduate practicum hours is approximately $10,730.
