Undergraduate Certificate Program in Dietetics

What is a Certificate Program in Dietetics?

A certificate program in dietetics provides the coursework necessary for gaining the foundation and skills needed in a dietetic internship program.  Unlike the undergraduate degree program, this program provides only the major courses and does not grant a second baccalaureate degree. You might be interested in the certificate program if:

  • You already have a degree in another field
  • You want to become a registered dietitian
  • You have some courses in nutrition but not enough to enroll in a dietetic internship program

This program allows students to complete an accredited undergraduate program in dietetics (a Didactic Program in Dietetics, accredited by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics).  Verification of completion of an accredited DPD is required to be eligible to apply for a Dietetic Internship Program, which is a supervised practice program required to be eligible to take the Registration Examination for Dietitians.  For the program brochure, click here. For additional details about the program, contact Autumn Marshall, department chair, at autumn.marshall@lipscomb.edu, or Nancy Hunt, DPD Director, at nancy.hunt@lipscomb.edu.
