Steele helps prepare students academically, spiritually, socially, and professionally to impact purposeful change on campus and in the community as well as to become culturally competent leaders in an increasingly diverse world. She works with students, faculty and staff to bridge cultures and promote diversity. As the coordinator of Latino student services, she serves as the advisor to Futuro, the professional association for Latino college students. Steele is a graduate of the Metro Nashville Mayor’s MyCity Academy. She is fluent in Spanish and French and has studied German and Arabic. Steele has traveled extensively to several Central American countries. Each summer she spends time in Nicaragua and El Salvador in mission work. She is a member of the board of directors of Futuro and of The Branch of Southeast Nashville, a food pantry and ESL resource center.
