Bond featured in this week's 'NASHVILLE,' producing movie on Don Meyer

Former Bison outfielder Casey Bond, who was featured in the critically-acclaimed film, Moneyball, will appear in the next new episode of ABC television’s “Nashville.”
Bond portrays Gil Martin, chief of staff for Mayor Teddy Conrad, in Episode 14, “Dear Brother,” set to air Wed., Feb. 27 at 9 p.m. CST.
“It was a great opportunity for me to be in Nashville and to work on this project,” said Bond, who makes his home in California. “It was a great experience, and I was really impressed with everyone involved in the production. It’s great to be a part of such a popular show based in the city I love.”
Bond has had a busy few months as he recently filmed a Dick’s Sporting Goods commercial in addition to a number of film and commercial projects. He will star in this year’s release (available on DVD April 9) of the faith-based, inspirational Sony film, “Ring the Bell.” In addition to acting, Bond has also started his own production company called Campbell Clan Productions.
One of the projects Bond is most passionate about these days is his production of the movie about legendary former Lipscomb men’s basketball coach Don Meyer, the winningest men’s basketball coach in NCAA history. Along the way, Meyer nearly died in a 2008 car crash, discovered he had cancer, had part of his left leg amputated and won a number of national awards, including the 2009 ESPY for the Jimmy V (Jim Valvano) Award For Perseverance. Meyer, also a nationally known motivational speaker, is the subject of an award-winning book by ESPN’s Buster Olney.
Bond has teamed up with veteran Hollywood producer Brad Wilson, who ran actor Robert Duvall’s production company for 11 years, and a host of other talented and tested individuals. He is now working to raise the final financial support needed to begin production of the film. Bond is expected to also have a role in the film.
“This film will give amazing exposure to Lipscomb, and its cooperation has been wonderful. I’m sure will continue to be a blessing for the project,” said Bond. After lining up the movie’s talent and finances, they hope to start production this year and release the independent film into theaters in 2014.
“The story really attracted me a lot, and it became a no-brainer for me right away,” said Wilson, executive vice president of Moonglow Films. “And then you meet Coach Meyer, and you are just mesmerized by the guy. You come away a believer.”
Moonglow business partner and Meyer movie co-producer, Carol Miller, known as one of the best screenwriters in the industry, has written the script for this production.
“I had an epiphany on how this movie could be done,” said Bond. “So I got a hold of Brad and told him, 'I have this amazing story.' He was into it and believed in it right away. And the idea just blossomed from there.”
Bond was drafted out of Lipscomb by the San Francisco Giants. After his career ended in their farm system, Bond decided to give acting a try, even though he had other offers to continue his baseball career. After a national commercial and an appearance on a reality show featuring Kiss guitarist Gene Simmons and his family, Bond landed his first major movie role in Moneyball.
Along with taking acting classes with the legendary Larry Moss at his studio, among others, Bond has been a spokesperson for numerous companies, doing print ads for A.D.I.D.A.S., Nike, Muscletech, along with commercials for One A Day Men’s Vitamins, Nike, Blue Bunny and others. Also, he has appeared on the popular reality show “Gene Simmons Family Jewels” as the handyman.
