MediaMasters: Elbert Tucker

MediaMasters: Elbert Tucker is in the past.

Lipscomb University's Department of Communication and Journalism presents its MediaMasters Speaker Series featuring Elbert Tucker, WKRN News Director, on Monday, March 27, at 5 p.m. in Lipscomb's Ezell Center, room 301. 

Tucker has 33 years of local television news experience, 27 of them in newsroom management. Before joining WKRN News 2, Elbert served as news director at WISH-TV in Indianapolis, Indiana; WBNS-TV in Columbus, Ohio; and WKRC-TV in Cincinnati, Ohio. 

Tucker is a 1984 graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and got his start in TV in his hometown of Chattanooga, Tennessee.

In 16 years as a news director, his stations have been named “Outstanding News Operation” by the Associated Press five times. His honors also include three Emmy awards for news excellence and a prestigious Walter Cronkite award for excellence in political coverage.

A Q&A session will immediately follow the presentation, and free admission and pizza will also be provided.
