Throughout September, Lipscomb University’s Art Department presented Selections from the Permanent Collection, featuring works from the recently donated Mary Elbert Taylor Art Collection, a collection of more than 100 works donated by Dr. Dean Taylor, in the John C. Hutcheson Gallery.
Taylor, a former pathologist at Nashville’s Centennial Medical Center donated the paintings to the College of Arts and Sciences in memory of his late wife, Mary Elbert Taylor. Recently featured in the Nashville Arts Magazine, the Taylor Art Collection is valued at more than $275,000 and is comprised of pieces his wife assembled over a span of nearly a decade.
It includes 20th-century Russian paintings influenced by the culture of during the Post-Bolshevik era and notable American artworks including Nashville artists.
The Hutcheson exhibit includes works by Andrei Bogachev, Nikolai N. Galakhov, Timur Akhriev, Arsen Kurbanov and Anna Jaap.
