The Lipscomb Academy elementary school will hold a community seminar on raised bed and container gardens on Saturday, Sept. 21, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., at the elementary campus as part of its Green Apple Day of Service project. The elementary campus is located at 4517 Granny White Pike, Nashville. There is a $5 supply fee, and activities are appropriate for children as young as 7 years old.
Educators from Lipscomb University's biology department, Lipscomb Academy Green Team leaders, and community master gardeners will provide instruction on basic container gardening. Instruction will be followed by a session in which all participants will create their own container garden, that they will take home and nurture during the fall. Demonstrations will also be held on raised bed gardening. Children who are present will be able to participate in additional hands-on activities during instruction times.
Please bring your own container(s): gallon plastic produce container, milk jug, or 2-liter bottle.
Please RSVP by calling 615.966.6326 by Sept. 18.
