The Lipscomb University College of Pharmacy will host its second Drive-Up Flu Shot Clinic on Saturday, Oct. 5, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on University Park Drive outside of the Burton Health Sciences Center (facing Belmont Boulevard). Cost is $20 and vaccines can be provided for children as young as 4 years old.
Patients will park their cars in visitors’ spots along University Park Drive, and members of the American Pharmacists Association’s Academy of Student Pharmacists will come out to the car to serve a healthy dose of flu vaccine.
This year the clinic will include free blood pressure checks and blood glucose screenings while patients wait the mandatory 10-15 minutes to make sure they suffer no ill side effects. The mini-health fair will include information booths on diabetes, prescription drug abuse and blood pressure and available coupons for over-the-counter medications.
All of the Lipscomb student pharmacists are certified to give vaccines and many already work in retail pharmacies and have administered flu vaccines at on-campus clinics for the past three years.
