Fall Choral Classic

As part of the university’s homecoming events, Oct. 1-7, the Lipscomb University Music Department presents the Fall Choral Classic. This concert includes performances by all of the Lipscomb University choral ensembles. Included on the program are the A Cappella Singers; the University Singers; our men’s ensemble, the Chamber Men; and the Vocal Jazz Ensemble ; all of whom will present music from a variety of influences including Celtic folk music, Indian classical music, and early American hymns. Dr. Gary P. Wilson and Jean Miller will be the featured conductors.
The A Cappella Singers will perform “On My Journey Home” and “Desh,” an arrangement of an Indian Raga, a piece full of percussive rhythms and unusual vocal sounds. The University Singers will perform “Carrick Fergus,” a Celtic folk song; “Gift of Love,” a contemporary Christian piece for women's voices, and “Bidin' My Time,” a George Gershwin show tune for men's voices.
The Chamber Men will perform “Beati Mortui,” a motet by Felix Mendelssohn and “Dulaman,” originally performed by the Celtic group Anuna. The Vocal Jazz Ensemble will perform “A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square” and “Do You Know What it Means to Miss New Orleans.”
