The ioStudio Charlie Daniels' Scholarship for Heroes Concert is coming to Lipscomb's Allen Arena on Tuesday, March 5 at 7 p.m. Charlie Daniels and special guest artists Chris Young, The Grascals, Keni Thomas, Bleach and more will perform their hits in an effort to create greater awareness of the national Veterans Yellow Ribbon education program and specifically Lipscomb’s Yellow Ribbon Scholarship Program, offering eligible Post 9/11 GI Bill veterans and their family members an undergraduate degree tuition-free or a graduate degree tuition-free or at a greatly reduced tuition rate.
Mary Byers, president of American Gold Star Mothers, Inc., will also be a featured guest. American Gold Star Mothers, Inc., founded in 1929, is an organization of mothers who have lost sons or daughters in service to the United States. The organization exists to support mothers who have lost loved ones, to promote patriotism and to perpetuate the memory of those who have died in service to the country among other purposes.
Daniels will be joined by some of music’s hottest artists. Young’s single, “You,” marked his fifth consecutive No. 1 hit. Grammy-nominated group, The Grascals, have become one of the most acclaimed bands on today’s bluegrass scene for their innovative mingling of bluegrass and country music. Nashville singer, songwriter and best-selling author Keni Thomas is a combat veteran of the 75th Ranger Regiment who fought in the Battle of Mogadishu. Bleach is a contemporary Christian rock band that has earned a Dove Award and has released seven albums since the band formed in 1995.
In addition, Chase Bank and Operation Homefront will be giving away a home the night of the show to an area Tennessee veteran.

Also on Tuesday, March 5, noon to 4 p.m., in the Ezell Center Lipscomb University will hold Synergy, a workshop for those who work with military veterans.
Join with governmental agencies (federal and state), nonprofit veteran service organizations, businesses with specific veterans programs and others who, like you, are committed to making a difference in the lives of those who have served in the U.S. military. At least twenty different organizations are anticipated to participate.
