Lipscomb among top universities in nation for salary potential for graduates

Lipscomb University has been named one of the top universities in the central south region of the country for best salary potential for its graduates in the newly released 2013-14 PayScale College Salary Report.

grad 10.10Lipscomb University is in the top 20 percent of universities in the central south region whose graduates have the greatest salary potential upon entering the job market. The study shows that the average starting salary for a Lipscomb University graduate is $40,600, with an average mid-career salary of $77,700.

“Lipscomb University graduates are ready to make an impact in their careers from the first day they enter the workforce,” said L. Randolph Lowry, Lipscomb University president. “We prepare our students to be successful in their churches, homes, communities and careers. This study is a measure of the quality of Lipscomb University graduates as well as the value that employers place on having these individuals as part of their workforces.”

Lowry said this data is also a measure of a student’s return on investment in a Lipscomb education.

Lipscomb University was ranked above a number of prominent institutions such as Birmingham Southern College, the University of Alabama, the University of Kentucky, the University of Mississippi and Middle Tennessee State University. Lipscomb, ranked 32nd out of 148 institutions in the central south category, was also the highest-ranked Church of Christ affiliated university included on the list.

This is the latest of several recognitions the university has received for its quality and excellence.  

In September, Lipscomb was ranked in the top 12 percent in the nation in Washington Monthly’s list of “Best-Bang-for-the-Buck Colleges.” The list is based on the economic value students receive per dollar invested.

This fall, Lipscomb was again ranked among the top 20 regional master’s universities in the South, according to the U.S. News and World Report’s “2014 America’s Best Colleges” guidebook. Lipscomb University was also ranked in that guidebook as one of the top 5 regional universities in the South whose students graduate with the least debt.

The university was also included on the 2014 Military Friendly Schools® list, which recognizes the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the nation that are providing services and programs to ensure that military service members, veterans and their spouses and dependents are successful on campus. This is the fifth consecutive year Lipscomb University has been included on the list.

In July, Lipscomb University was named a top university for lifetime return on investment by Affordable Colleges Online, a leading national resource for college affordability and financial aid information. Lipscomb was ranked in the top five percent of Tennessee colleges analyzed for the ranking. The university was also recently one of only 54 universities in the nation honored as a 2013-14 Christian College of Distinction.

In addition, the National Council on Teacher Quality named Lipscomb’s College of Education one of only four top teacher-training programs in the United States.The College of Business was ranked 24th in the nation in the Military Times’ 2013 Best for Vets: Business Schools Guide for veterans based on financial aid, academic policies and participation in the Yellow Ribbon Program.

The university set an enrollment record this fall with an official enrollment of 4,593. The university has experienced an 82 percent enrollment growth rate since 2005. This year’s graduate enrollment after the official count is 1,696, an 11.5 percent increase from last year.
