WKRN-TV Nashville News Director Elbert Tucker to speak at March 27 MediaMasters event

Elbert Tucker, news director at WKRN-TV Nashville, will be the featured guest for Lipscomb University’s MediaMasters Speaker Series on Monday, March 27, at 5 p.m. in Ezell Center, room 301. His lecture is free and open to the public.
The MediaMasters Speaker Series honors communications professionals whose body of work stands as a model and inspiration for the next generation. Lectures include question-and-answer sessions, as well as free admission and pizza. Each MediaMasters speaker spends a day on the Lipscomb campus meeting with students and faculty in addition to speaking at a community event.
Tucker has 33 years of local television news experience, 27 of them in newsroom management. Before joining WKRN News 2, Elbert served as news director at WISH-TV in Indianapolis, Indiana; WBNS-TV in Columbus, Ohio; and WKRC-TV in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Tucker is a 1984 graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and got his start in TV in his hometown of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
In 16 years as a news director, his stations have been named “Outstanding News Operation” five times by the Associated Press. His honors also include three Emmy awards for news excellence and a prestigious Walter Cronkite award for excellence in political coverage.
