11/9/2012 Spark-Lipscomb’s Idea Center, celebrated its grand opening with the help of Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Williamson County Schools Director Mike Looney, Williamson County Chamber of Commerce Board Chair Brad Dunn and Lipscomb University President L. Randolph Lowry on Thursday, Nov. 8. The 6,400-square-foot Spark is Lipscomb University’s first university-operated off-campus facility, now open in the Cool Springs area in Williamson County.

Aging simulation increases understanding of challenges facing older adults

Health care and older adult services providers recently had the opportunity to get in the minds — and bodies — of the clients they serve through an aging simulation exercise led by Lipscomb University’s School of TransformAging.

11/13/2012 The Lipscomb community will have a unique opportunity to hear from one of the best pitchers in major league baseball on Thursday, Nov. 15, in a special chapel program. New York Mets pitcher R.A. Dickey is being recognized by Lipscomb’s College of Business as part of its “Heroes of Business” series. He will be the featured speaker at chapel where he will share his inspiring story of overcoming obstacles on the path to his career in baseball. The program begins at 10:55 a.m. in Collins Alumni Auditorium. The program is free and open to the public.

11/2/2012 More than 3,500 people packed the Allen Arena Mall Tuesday night, Nov. 27, to officially kick-off the holiday season on campus and in the Nashville community with Lipscomb University’s eighth annual Lighting of the Green. Nashville’s own Amy Grant hosted the free outdoor holiday concert. This year’s performance also featured contemporary Christian artist Ashley Cleveland; Mandisa, of American Idol fame; The Martins, Christian music vocal trio; L’Angelus, a Cajun inspired band; Scat Springs, founder of the Scat Band and classic rhythm and blues singer; Michelle Swift, contemporary Christian singer; Opus Row; the Lipscomb Academy fourth, fifth grade and high school concert choruses and Lipscomb University's choruses.

Myrick has creative flair for engineering

10/29/2012 Engineering education expert Justin Myrick has been appointed dean of Lipscomb University’s Raymond B. Jones College of Engineering. Myrick spent the majority of his career at the Georgia Institute of Technology as a professor in the School of Industrial and Systems Engineering where he also served as the director of the Health Systems Research Center. In addition, he directed Georgia Tech’s Master of Science in Health Systems program.

University connects fifth graders to business world

10/17/2012 Fifth graders at Lipscomb Academy are gearing up to run a town for a day, complete with a mayor, CEO of a bank, reporters, a disc jockey, lawyers and other citizens. This town is unlike others across the country, but has all of the challenges and hustle-and-bustle of a typical city. These students are planning for the opportunity to visit JA BizTown in Nashville, where each day young people experience the responsibilities and opportunities of citizenship in a free enterprise system.

10/12/2012 The Ezell Center was the hub of political discussion Thursday night, Oct. 11, as several hundred students, faculty, staff and members of the Nashville community gathered in a packed SunTrust Center for Collaborative Learning to watch the debate between Vice President Joe Biden and Republican candidate Paul Ryan. A number of families with young children joined the university community for the latest installment of Pizza and Politics to watch the debate and to participate in a discussion of election issues.
