| Grad students have opportunity to learn from one of nation's leading psychology experts

But, it’s not very often that students get to set aside the textbook and learn directly from the textbook author. Gerald Corey, professor emeritus of human services at California State University, Fullerton, and author of 16 psychology textbooks, visited the Lipscomb University campus this past semester to hold a weeklong seminar in group therapy for counseling graduate students. |

| Ewing Scholarship honors life of Christian engineer

A native of Salem, Ore., Bob parlayed that fascination into a career as a civil engineer who had an impact across the country. His contribution to the engineering field was recently recognized with the establishment of the Robert Clark Ewing Engineering Scholarship Fund. |

| A-Sun softball tournament underway at Draper Diamond this week
Atlantic Sun Conference 5/8/2013 The 2013 Atlantic Sun Conference Softball Championship began Wednesday as North Florida, USC Upstate, FGCU, Lipscomb, Kennesaw State and Stetson have staked their claims to the tournament in Nashville, Tenn. The A-Sun Championship starts on Wednesday, May 8 with No. 6 Stetson facing No. 3 FGCU in the first game at 3 p.m. CST followed by No. 4 Lipscomb taking on No. 5 Kennesaw State at 5:30 p.m. CST at Lipscomb's Draper Diamond. |

| University celebrates largest graduating class in history
Kim Chaudoin 5/7/2013 The Lipscomb community marked another milestone this spring as more than 659 graduates were honored for completing coursework in May or August 2013. For the eighth consecutive year, more students than ever before participated in commencement, held May 4 in Allen Arena. During the ceremony, 385 undergraduates, 216 graduates and 68 doctors of pharmacy graduates were recognized. Included in this year’s graduating class were 35 veterans who were part of the university’s Yellow Ribbon Program as well as the first students to graduate with a Master of Science degree in biomolecular science. |

| Technology leaders experience challenges facing aging adults at Techville 2013
Kim Chaudoin 5/6/2013 Social media use has grown dramatically among internet users ages 50 and older, according to a recent Pew Research Center report. The study indicates that social networking use by this segment of the population has nearly doubled in the past year. During the same period, use among those ages 65 and older grew 100 percent. By comparison, social networking use among users ages 18 to 29 grew 13 percent. However, social networking products and services are often not designed with users 50 and older in mind. |

The TCLA is a partnership between the Andrews Institute and the Transit Alliance of Middle Tennessee. |

Lipscomb Academy Elementary School was named a 2013 U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School, announced U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, Chair of White House Council on Environmental Quality Nancy Sutley, and Acting Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency Bob Persiacepe. |

| Lipscomb Academy dedicates new Griffith Family Soccer Field and Complex
Kim Chaudoin 5/1/2013 Lipscomb Academy students have a new home for the middle and high school soccer programs thanks to the generosity of Jim and Pam Griffith of Canton, Ohio. On Friday, April 26, the Griffith Family Soccer Field and Complex — known to students as The Griff — was officially dedicated and opened for use by the boys’ and girls’ soccer programs at the academy. The complex includes a competition soccer field with lighting, a practice field, home and visitor locker rooms, public restrooms and a concession stand. It is located on the west side of Franklin Road just past the intersection with Caldwell Lane. |

More than 15,000 packed Allen Arena during three programs held April 26 and 27 to see Phil, Kay and Si Robertson, stars of the A&E reality show Duck Dynasty, and to hear an inspirational message by former Bison men’s basketball coach Don Meyer. |

| Nation’s top leaders featured at Chick-fil-A® Leadercast® May 10
Kim Chaudoin 4/26/2013 Some of the country’s proven leaders will be featured as part of the Chick-fil-A® Leadercast® hosted by Lipscomb University on May 10. Chick-fil-A® Leadercast® is a one-day leader development event broadcast LIVE from Atlanta, Ga. to hundreds of sites throughout the nation, including Lipscomb University’s Collins Alumni Auditorium. Registration begins at 7 a.m. The event includes four sessions with featured speakers and a special lunch. The program concludes at 3:30 p.m. Up to 5.5 hours of continuing education credit are also available for attendees. |

Kim Chaudoin 4/23/2013 At a hearing Tuesday, April 17, of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, Ranking Member U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.), praised Nashville native and Lipscomb University student Derrica Donelson, who is earning a bachelor’s and master’s degree in five years, saying Donelson’s careful decision-making about her college education suggest she’ll “be a great success.” |
