OPEN Gallery: One Person Show, Jen Delos Reyes
OPEN gallery, Lipscomb's student-run gallery located in the Arcade downtown, is pleased to present new work by artist Jen Delos Reyes, Oct. 6-26. In "One Person Show," Delos Reyes grapples with the role of the individual in group work and social art.
While the trend towards participatory art and mass social movements continues, many such efforts are falling flat. This exhibition proposes that one possible reason for this is a lack of self-care. For "One Person Show," Delos Reyes has created a space where attention turns toward the individual. For the duration of the exhibition the OPEN gallery will serve as a space for drop-in meditation and tea -- for one. Visitors are invited to use the space as a place for mindfulness and reflection.
Currently, OPEN is open to the public on the first Saturday of each month during the Fifth Avenue Art Crawl, and by appointment by calling 966-5813. Galleries are open for the art crawl from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and the Nashville Downtown Partnership provides two free shuttles traveling among the galleries from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
