University Jazz Band and Vocal Jazz Ensemble
The Jazz Band, directed by Dr. Stephen Rhodes, brings "America's classical music" to the Lipscomb University campus in four concerts each year. Styles range from big band to funk and beyond, with an emphasis on variety of styles and eras.
Lipscomb's Vocal Jazz Ensemble is a small ensemble that specializes in vocal jazz originals, jazz standards and jazz influenced arrangements of popular music. In conjunction with the Jazz Band, the VJE performs four campus concerts per year, as well as concerts in the Nashville community. The members of the group are chosen by audition, and are also members of Lipscomb's large choral ensemble, the A Cappella Singers.
The Lipscomb jazz groups are open to all interested students.
