Kappa Iota Theta is a student-run organization dedicated to ensuring the academic, social and personal development of the African American students at Lipscomb University. Kappa Iota Theta promotes activities of common interest, as well as cultural and educational benefits for the African American student body.

Kappa Iota Theta:

  • Provides an intellectual, cultural and social environment for students and community members
  • Encourages pride and awareness of heritage not only to its members but to the entire Lipscomb community
  • Aims to promote cultural awareness on campus through academic programming and extra-curricular activities 

Activities include:

  • STOMPFEST—Lipscomb’s annual step show that attracts hundreds of students and visitors
  • Open Mic Night—an evening of spoken word
  • Black History Month events
  • Service opportunities
  • Alumni, faculty and staff networking events
  • Collaborations with surrounding universities and businesses in the Greater Nashville Area
