Cold Treats Inspire Students
How often has your life been drastically altered over a bowl of ice cream? Likely never! How many times have you been introduced to serving the Kingdom in new ways while enjoying a paleta or ice cream sandwich? On September 3rd, the missions program hosted its first IceCreamaLUza – A Freshman’s/ Transfer’s Intro to Lipscomb Missions. Rather than have new students wait another month until the Missions Fair, IceCreamaLUza attracted more than 125 who were able to meet with mission trip leaders, student trip veterans and other new students who were all seeking more information about opportunities to serve through Lipscomb Missions. Lydia Buckley, a freshman from Knoxville said, “The event helped me discover trips I was interested in, and it motivated me to apply and get involved with Lipscomb Missions!” After all the frozen treats vanished, the new students heard powerful testimonies from veteran trip leaders Phil Kinzer (Baja, Haiti), Jessica Duty (Perth), and recent graduate Ben Pedigo (Panama City Beach). To conclude the evening, we paused for a moment and encouraged the students to allow God to work in and through their lives in the coming years as they serve His people on campus, in our city, across our country and around the world.
