Arizona (Navajo)

AZ navajo top

A few hours from the Grand Canyon you will find the town of Kayenta, located within the Navajo nation, the largest Native American reservation in the United States. This second-year team will partner with the Kayenta Church of Christ in sharing Christ and building community among the people in and around Kayenta. The team will be engaged in a variety of activities, from Bible studies, in the local schools and may also facilitate a day camp for children.  Last year during the week in Kayenta, Lipscomb partnered with Nashville-based non-profit Healing Hands International to empower locals to build a community garden that will provide fresh fruits and vegetables for those living on the reservation; there is potential for continued partnership with HHI in furthering and maintaining this community garden and agricultural practices during the upcoming trip as well.
