Lipscomb’s Missions Program can be quite overwhelming at first glance. With over 50 teams serving in 25 countries and 8 U.S. locations, how does one even begin to choose where he or she will serve? The upcoming Missions Fair is the perfect place to find out a little bit about everything as you make your way through the selection process.

Missions Fair Logo“This is the one time out of the year that we have all mission teams in one place. Students can find out not only the factual information regarding the trips, but hear stories from past participants as well,” says Missions Coordinator Paul Stevens. Such an event is the perfect place for those interested in mission trips to find out the basics, as well as connect with some mission veterans.

While the fair is exciting for any student, new students will definitely find the night to be one of great enlightenment as they wade through the waters of the numerous mission opportunities. Freshman Hannah Staub cannot wait to attend, saying, “I’m looking forward to going on a mission trip this spring, so I’m excited to learn more about the trips we have here.”

MF article 2Since this night is the one time that all teams are together, the atmosphere is one of great excitement and passion. Having led several trips to both Northern Ireland and New York City, John Williams is quite familiar with the informational event. He explains how high energy and passion pervade the student center, “You have a room full of team leaders and students talking about people and places they have visited and fallen in love with.” Lipscomb has a special place in its heart for mission trips, and the dedicated spirit of the team leaders and participants is infectious.

Tuesday night is a great taste of what the many trips will have to offer; however, the entire month of October will yield meetings for each and every team in need of applicants. At the fair, students will find an information sheet that has a list of all open teams and their information session time. Interested in more than one trip? No need to worry! Each meeting is at a different time throughout the month so that students may attend any or all sessions.

Dallas/Fort WorthEven returning students will find new opportunities, as the fair will highlight a few new trips as well, including Paraguay and Monterrey, Mexico. There will also be teams who are returning after not taking trips last year—Dallas, Panama City, and the military veteran students’ trip to Haiti. Everyone has something to gain by attending the special night and taking a look around the booths.

So, come out to The Missions Fair on Tuesday, October 2nd from 6-9pm in the Bennett Campus Center. There is no time like the present to discover all of the different places that you may be called to serve this year!

*Also, everyone should be on the lookout for some eye-catching event promotion throughout the day!
