As the health care capitol of the nation, our hometown of Nashville is headquarters to hundreds of leading health care companies. As a Lipscomb Health Care Fellow, you will have the advantage of a one-year working experience with one of these outstanding companies, in tandem with a comprehensive graduate business education.
Our nationally recruited Fellows are not interns. You will join the company ready to perform in such areas as sales, marketing, project management, operations, compliance, financial analysis, accounting and more.
For 30 hours a week, you will be in a full immersion health care experience as an employee. After the completion of your degree, you will not only have academic credentials that will advance your career, but you will have a full year of experience with a portfolio company networked with health care industry leaders.
The Lipscomb Health Care Fellowship Program is open to a select few.
While Lipscomb’s traditional MBA offers an excellent program to a range of student backgrounds and professional aspirations, the Health Care Fellowship Program is highly competitive among those who are committed to health care careers.

With the 2011-2012 Health Care Fellowship class, Lipscomb’s College of Business is taking its program up a notch in the health care sector with an opportunity that will attract the attention of the next generation of health care leaders. A very limited number of slots will be available. But while the program will be highly competitive, we believe that keeping the opportunity limited will benefit the successful applicants with a more significant experience, an unmatched opportunity and a more valuable degree.
An employee by day. A student by night.
As a Fellow, you will take classes two nights a week. In addition to coursework, you will attend carefully selected sessions and events specific to the health care industry to ensure you are current on key trends in the industry whether they developed last year or last week.
Outside of class and study time, Fellows are expected to dedicate a 30-hour workweek to their Lipscomb Fellowship Partner. In addition to this one-of-a-kind learning experience, you will also receive a monthly stipend of $1,500 for the 11 months of the program. In other words, you will get paid to learn from one of the most successful health companies in the country.
A rigorous course of study.
During the Lipscomb Health Care Fellowship Experience, you will complete your MBA with a concentration in health care. The curriculum consists of the following courses:
- The Managerial Environment
- Accounting for Executives
- Financial Management and Strategy
- Strategic Management: A Global Emphasis
- Service Operations and Marketing
- Leadership Perspectives and Practices
- Introduction to Health Services Management
- Health Services Issues
- The U.S. Health Care System
- Several electives to choose from
A competitive selection process.
A selection committee, comprised of representatives of the College of Business and the Lipscomb Fellowship Partners, selects the most qualified applicants based on the application and subsequent interview.
To be selected, a candidate must demonstrate excellence in scholastics, character and integrity, oral and written communication skills, analytical skills, campus and community service involvement, interest in the health care industry, and leadership potential.
