A college within a university
within a great community

Collaboration College is a yearlong opportunity for nonprofit organizations to benefit by combining their respective strengths to create greater community good and to learn, practice and be supported in that effort.
Over 150 people from 100 different nonprofit organizations met on September 7, 2011 to kick off Collaboration College. The daylong conference featured nationally recognized speakers and offered attendees a variety of classes, panel discussions and working sessions presented by collaboration experts. The discussions led the group through an exploration of the rewards and pitfalls facing successful collaborating agencies.
The first class of students will continue with additional meetings that will be held throughout the school year. This experience will result in one collaborating team receiving grant funding for their project and the other finalists benefitting from hours of expert consultation on theirs.

Collaboration College is, itself, collaboration.

Collaboration College is intended to be a rigorous and challenging opportunity hosted by three entities deeply involved in community building. First is Middle Tennessee’s Center for Nonprofit Management (CNM), long a leader in this community in the building of strong nonprofit agencies.
CNM is joined by Lipscomb University’s Institute for Law, Justice and Society, an undergraduate degree-granting resource in the area of social justice; the Nelson and Sue Andrews Institute for Civic Leadership at Lipscomb University, a resource dedicated to the building of strong civic leaders working together for the common good and a degree-granting entity at the master’s level; and the Lipscomb Serving and Learning Together Program (S.A.L.T.), an entity that applies nationally honored service-learning principles to community building.
The HCA Foundation is supporting the work of the CNM and Lipscomb University with significant underwriting funds, to help the top team implement its collaborative work.
