 American Heart Association recognizes university as a Fit Friendly Company

Lipscomb University was recognized in October as a gold-level recipient of the American Heart Association’s Start! Fit-Friendly Companies recognition.  Start! is the American Heart Association’s national movement that calls on all Americans and their employers to create a culture of physical activity and health to live longer, heart-healthier lives through walking.  The Start! Fit-Friendly Companies program works to be a catalyst for positive change in American business by recognizing companies throughout the nation make the health and wellness of their employees a priority.  Lipscomb’s Faculty/Staff Wellness Program promotes healthier lifestyles among the Lipscomb faculty and staff by offering wellness seminars, consultations, fitness assessments and opportunities for education, fellowship and exercise, including several walking events each year.

Lipscomb’s Wellness Program was recognized for:
·         Offering employees physical activity support;
·         Providing or increasing healthy eating options at the worksite; and
·         Promoting culture of wellness.
“We are extremely honored and excited to be recognized by the American Heart Association’s Start! initiative as a gold-level Fit-Friendly Company,” said Anna Rose Anderson, wellness program coordinator and instructor in the department of kinesiology. “Physical activity and employee wellness are very important priorities here at Lipscomb and we encourage all of our employees to promote healthy lifestyles.”
