Getting Started

If you don't wish to use the Google Apps web client to read your email, you can configure other email clients to do so.

Before setting up an IMAP or POP connection, make sure your Google Apps account is configured to accept IMAP/POP connections:

  • In Gmail, go to Settings > Forwarding and POP/IMAP and ensure your account is enabled for POP and IMAP access.

    You will need to use your Lipscomb Network password (Same password used for the Network and myLipscomb) for your POP connection.

    Be sure to use your full email address (username@boisestate.edu) when setting up the IMAP configuration, and clear the captcha for your Google Apps account.

Keep in Mind...

  • You can set your Google Apps password (required for IMAP or POP0 by browsing to the Lipscomb Network Password Utility and following the directions listed. 
  • You may be interested in activating the Advanced IMAP Controls feature in Labs within your Gmail account, which allows you to choose which labels show up in IMAP, turn off message auto-expunging, or trash messages when they're deleted from IMAP.
  • Please note the Help Desk can provide you with basic information for connecting and configuring IMAP and POP clients to send and receive email, but we cannot answer functional questions regarding how to use the programs.
