Guidance and College Counselor
Counseling services at Lipscomb Academy High School cover three broad areas of service including personal, academic, and college counseling. This position will include:
Guidance Counselor
- Academic counseling including course selection and scheduling
- All standardized testing planning and coordination
- Create and maintain information about services on the website
- Collaborate with others on special events such as Sr. Shadowing Day, Awards Day, Scheduling, parent information sessions, test prep courses, etc.
- Receiving transcripts on in-coming students and entering new student information into Ren-web.
- Sending transcripts to other K – 12 schools
- Making recommendations for outside testing or services from LEP
- Personal counseling and/or making referrals to the STARS counselor or the directors of spiritual formation.
College Counselor
- Oversee college placement related issues such as financial aid, applications, scholarships, interviews, essays, etc. needed to facilitate student access to college.
- Coordinate college admissions counselor visits to Lipscomb Academy (individual or College Fair)
- Coordinate student/family visits to colleges
- Tracking of students through Naviance
- Training parents and students to use Naviance
- Create and maintain relevant college placement information on the school web-site
- Collaborate with others on special events such as Sr. Shadowing Day, Awards Day, Scheduling, parent information sessions, test prep courses, etc.
- Create a systematic process to engage parents, students, and teachers in the college process beginning in upper middle school.
