Ed.D. Capstone Projects
One of the exciting features of the Doctor of Education Program is the opportunity to conduct research in a capstone project. Students work in teams of two to four and undertake an original research project addressing a real research need proposed by a local educational, governmental or non-profit entity. Client organizations such as the Tennessee Department of Education, Metro Nashville Public Schools, Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC), Tennessee Independent College and University Association (TICUA), and other education-related organizations propose research projects that are screened and approved by Lipscomb University. Students engage in their research concurrently with their coursework throughout the second year of the Ed.D. Program. The research and the doctoral experience culminate with a formal written manuscript and oral defense to the client and to the capstone team’s juried review committee.
