The Education Specialist (Ed.S.) in English Language Learning is a 33-credit hour program that prepares instructional leaders to not only teach ELL students, but also to lead programs and professional learning experiences which support high achievement for English language learners. The program emphasizes building strong cultural connections in a school community, developing a targeted curriculum for second language acquisition, and implementing the most effective pedagogical practices. This program emphasizes the value of diversity in the classroom as well as the best ways to serve students from all backgrounds. Candidates will earn an Ed.S. degree as well as an endorsement in English Language Learning PreK-12.This program, designed for licensed teachers, focuses on collaboration and leadership while learning the most effective mentoring and coaching practices. The Ed.S. in Reading Specialty emphasizes a balanced approach to literacy, implements the Common Core English and Language Arts Standards, and concentrates on diagnosis and remediation of reading disabilities. Candidates will earn an Ed.S. degree and an endorsement as a Reading Specialist in PreK-12.
This program can be completed in less than two years and is designed to fit your busy schedule with classes on weeknights, Saturdays and online.
