Director of Global Programs
Michael Winegeart is the Director of Global Programs at Lipscomb University. Michael holds a Master of International Business degree from the University of South Carolina, which is recognized by U.S. News and World Report in the top 3 international programs in the country for the last 30 years. His undergraduate degree was in Finance from Abilene Christian University.
Michael was born and raised in Germany and is bi-lingual. Michael's career has always had an international focus whether in academia or with multi-national companies abroad. He relishes the opportunity to expand students' global and kingdom horizons. The Global Programs Department is the catalyst and central point of integration of global and cultural dimensions at Lipscomb. We are charged with the task of promoting comprehensive internationalization into our DNA of teaching, service and research.
Site Director: Vienna, Austria
Melissa Swann joined the Office of Global Programs in 2009 as site director for the Vienna program. Prior to coming to Lipscomb, she served the U.S. Navy for five years as an avionics technician and aircrew training department administrator. Swann earned a B.A. in German and an M.S. at Lipscomb, with an emphasis in Global Studies in Sustainability. She is married to Jaren Swann and claims St. Charles, MO, as her hometown. Melissa and Jaren have one son, Lukas, born in February of 2015.
Swann grew up in a bilingual home speaking German and English, and has lived in Germany, Austria and Japan for various periods of time. While Vienna has a special place in her heart, Swann feels blessed by all of her travel and experiences abroad.
Site Director: Santiago, Chile
Zane joined the Lipscomb study abroad program in the spring of 2014 as the on-sight coordinator in Santiago, Chile. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Biology from Texas A&M University and a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Azusa Pacific University as well as theological studies from Sunset International Biblical Institute. He coordinates students’ living arrangements, travel, and language study at the university while teaching a cross culture and history course.
Having grown up on the mission field in Colombia, it was only natural that Zane would return to Latin America to raise his family. He and his wife, Tae, and their four children (Naomi, Isaac, Simeon and Enoch) are working on developing Chilean leadership for the church they helped plant in 2002 in Santiago. Zane enjoys camping and action movies.
Site Director: Florence, Italy
Emily joined the Lipscomb study abroad program in the summer of 2016. She received her B.A. in French from Harding University in 2008, including a minor in Biology.
Upon graduation, she worked for one year at Harding University’s Speech and Hearing Clinic as the Office Manager. Following her time there, she then spent two years doing mission work in Italy in collaboration with the Avanti Italia program, sponsored principally by College Church of Christ in Searcy, Arkansas. During her time with Avanti Italia, she received an advanced certification in the Italian language from the Lorenzo de’ Medici language school in Florence, as well as completing her C1 level tests of the C.I.L.S. (Certificazione d’italiano come lingua straniera – Italian Foreign Language Certification) in June of 2011. After a short return to the States, she then accepted the position of Assistant to the Director with Harding University's program in Florence, Italy in May of 2013, working with that program until July of 2016.
She enjoys spending her time running with her dog Zoey, riding horses, reading, and knitting.
Global Apprentice Program Coordinator
After graduating from Lipscomb with her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Bonny joined the Global Programs team in November 2014 as the Global Apprentice Coordinator. Bonny helps to facilitate team prep, develop, plan, market, and coordinate short-term study abroad trips for the university.
Bonny graduated from Abilene Christian University with a Bachelor’s in Theatre and worked as a director, designer, and stage manager before spending time traveling abroad. Following God’s leading, she later moved to China for a few years to teach English, Western Culture, and Speech & Debate at China Jiliang University and had the opportunity to explore much of Southeast Asia. When not at work, Bonny enjoys indoor rock climbing, checking out Nashville’s great ethnic cuisine with her friends, writing children’s stories, and investing in the women from her small group at church.
Global Scholar Program Coordinator
Bethany joined the Global Programs staff in January 2015. Bethany serves as the Global Scholar Program Coordinator and helps to plan and execute the semester-long study abroad trips. She holds bachelor's degrees in business management and Spanish (Lipscomb University), as well as a master's degree in education (Vanderbilt University).
As an undergraduate student at Lipscomb, Bethany spent a semester abroad in Santiago, Chile, and has also traveled to China, Romania, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic, among other countries. She is passionate about international travel and community development. When she’s not at work, Bethany enjoys hiking at local parks, reading at The Well Coffeehouse, and volunteering in her community.
Page joined the Global Program Staff as the administrative assistant in March 2016, after having recently graduated from Lipscomb with a Bachelor of Arts in Family Relations. As an undergraduate student at Lipscomb, Page was involved with two mission trips: one to City of Children in Mexico and the other to Nevis. She has spent additional time abroad in Europe, and one of her favorite places she has visited is Switzerland.
Page enjoys hiking with her husband and their dog. She has a passion for photography and schedules family sessions in her free time. Originally from Atlanta, GA, Page has called Nashville home since she began her time as a student at Lipscomb in 2010.
