Dunn Honored for Volunteerism
By John Conger on 4/8/2014
Emily Dunn, senior Family Relations major from Nashville, was selected Volunteer of the Month at the Nashville International Center for Empowerment, a nonprofit agency that serves the immigrant and refugee population of Nashville. Emily served as a Youth Impact Intern under the Education Department at the Center. She worked in the after-school program at Glencliff High School. Her responsibilities included serving as mentor and tutor to the students, and orienting new volunteers that came into the program. She managed volunteer groups from out of state, and developed a webpage that had multiple resources for the after-school program volunteers.
Dunn not only was selected as Volunteer of the Month, but also presented the findings of a research project at the Center for the recent Student Scholar Symposium.
