Veterans’ Day will provide a wealth of activities for Lipscomb University alumni who are military veterans.

Tuesday, Nov. 10

The Gathering Recognition
On Tuesday, Nov. 10, Lipscomb’s alumni veterans are invited to attend The Gathering, the university’s largest weekly chapel service in Allen Arena at 10:55 a.m. to be recognized as a group before the student body. There will be coffee for participating alumni veterans in the Hall of Fame Room in Allen Arena beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Honorary Lunch
On Tuesday, Nov. 10, at noon, there will be a lunch for alumni veterans in the Paul Rogers Boardroom in the Ezell Center. The lunch is sponsored by Lipscomb’s Career Development Center.

Panel Discussion
A panel discussion with representatives from various branches of the military and different times in history will be held for alumni and student veterans in the Swang Chapel in the Ezell Center at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10.

Yellow Ribbon Dinner
At 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10, Lipscomb’s alumni veterans are invited to the Yellow Ribbon Dinner in Ezell Center, room 363. According to Lipscomb’s veterans’ liaison David Hughes, alumni, faculty and staff veterans will be inducted into the Campus Veterans’ Organization as honorary members at the dinners.

Wednesday, Nov. 11

Veterans Day Parade March
Lipscomb University’s alumni veterans are invited to march together in Nashville’s annual Veterans’ Day Parade. According to parade authorities, this marks the first time in recent history that an area university has featured its veterans in the event. The annual parade is scheduled Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. on Broadway.

Participating alumni are invited to a continental breakfast, offered at 8:30 a.m. in the Ezell Center. Lipscomb will provide transportation for all those participating in the parade march.

James Lee McDonough Book-signing
Lipscomb University’s Beaman Library will host a Veterans’ Day book-signing for well-known Civil War historian James Lee McDonough, at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 11. McDonough will be signing his latest book of American military history, The Wars of Myron King: A B-17 Pilot Faces WWII and U.S.-Soviet Intrigue. Also attending the book-signing will be the title subject, Myron King, a World War II Army airman who became the victim of political wrangling in the latter days of the war. This event is open to the public and free of charge.
