Pettit carries 30 years industry experience in electronic technology at IBM/Lexmark’s printer division including 20 years in technical management and is a registered Professional Engineer, licensed in Tennessee. He is the only professor on the engineering faculty that has obtained a U.S. patent: U.S. Patent 4,180,704 “Detection Circuit for a Bi-Directional, Self-Imaging Grating Detector,” December 25, 1979 and U.S. Patent 4,434,356 “Regulated Current Source for Thermal Printhead,” February 28, 1984. Pettit has over 10 years teaching experience, all at Lipscomb. His particular areas of interest include integrated circuit design, electronics, and control systems.
