The world of engineering is one of constant change, progress, ideas and innovations. The Raymond B. Jones College of Engineering is growing in many new ways to prepare students at even greater academic levels to better serve corporations and communities around the world, as well as advance their careers.
Our new master’s in engineering management, as part of the ABET accredited college, is the first of many exciting programs that will further propel our students’ success in the world. It was created by engineers, for engineers—and is taught by advanced degree faculty who know the engineering industry, because they are engineers and engineering managers themselves. In fact, it is the only degree-granting program in engineering management offered by a traditional college or university in the area.
The master’s in engineering management was specifically designed for mid-career practicing engineers who want to prepare themselves for upper management roles in a technically focused organization. The program has three main areas of study:
- ethical leadership—prepares you to lead organizational and civic change, gain team leadership skills in the areas of collaboration and conflict resolution. Understand the effects of ethical behavior and integrity on a leader’s trustworthiness, and its impact on their effectiveness.
- operational/technical management—you’ll addresses the unique needs of managing engineering or technically orientated organizations by using basic statistical procedures to collect, organize, analyze, and interpreting data in complex engineering problems.
- business acumen—helps you develop a stronger understanding of key executive issues, including strategic planning, developing sustainable competitive advantage, business planning, forecasting, workforce performance, cash flow, marketing strategy and brand positioning.
But this is not another MBA program. The Lipscomb engineering management degree is different because it focuses on analytical, decision-making models within the framework of project management that prepares you to solve complex, multi-variable, technical problems encountered in today's engineering organizations.
Completion of the program requires 36 graduate credits (10 courses + capstone project). Curriculum will be offered through evening classes to accommodate busy working professionals.
Classes begin this fall. A tuition discount will be given to the inaugural class only and financial aid is available.
