2014 College of Education Summer Alumni Summit is in the past.

Join us for a day of re-connecting, celebrating our community, and sharing what we've learned since you were at Lipscomb!

Lipscomb alumni from the College of Education are invited to attend the first College of Education Alumni Summit, a professional development event for educators on June 27 at Lipscomb. The day-long event features keynote speaker Dr. Milton Chen, senior fellow and executive director emeritus of the George Lucas Educational Foundation, and breakout sessions covering leadership, teaching, parenting and networking.

Admission is free.

Breakout sessions will cover a variety of leadership, teaching, and parenting topics.

Milton Chen
Chen is senior fellow and executive director, emeritus at The George Lucas Educational Foundation (GLEF), a non-profit operating foundation in the San Francisco Bay Area that utilizes its multimedia website Edutopia.org and documentary films to communicate a new vision for 21st Century schools.

His career in education includes serving as director of education research for Sesame Workshop, helping to develop Sesame Street, The Electric Company, and 3-2-1 Contact.  He served for 10 years as founding director of KQED Center for Education (PBS) in San Francisco. 

Chen has been an assistant professor at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and, during 2007-08, was one of 35 Fulbright New Century Scholars conducting research on access and diversity issues in higher education and K-12.

Chen lives in San Francisco. He received an AB in social studies from Harvard College and an MA and PhD in communication research from Stanford University.
