Peer Review Leader Guidelines

• Creating the CALL

• Select three readers your academic peers who:
  •   share expertise in your field,
  • will weigh the merits of anonymous proposals or papers,
  • may be CSC participants but are excluded from submitting for your peer reviewed session.

• The “Call” should:
  • fall within 100-125 words,
  • describe the parameters for submission,
  • include your best contact information and deadlines,
  • (for examples, please see csc.lipscomb.edu).

• The peer reviewed call will be posted:
  • on the CSC web page (csc.lipscomb.edu) upon submission, 
  • through your best academic channels (the more widely distributed, the better the quality and quantity of responses).

• Some Matters for Clarification:
  • Papers which pertain to the overall theme of the conference are encouraged, but other topics are welcome.
  • Given time parameters for each peer reviewed session (90 minutes) and  desire for quality exchange, we recommend three papers per session.
  • Your session will be labeled as peer reviewed in the conference program and on the web.   

• Communicating with session members:
  • Encourage timely Registration. Fees increase close to the conference date.
  • The web page (csc.lipscomb.edu) is regularly updated with information including your session’s date, time and venue.
  • Request and collect each presenter’s abstract (85-100 words) for inclusion on the web and booklet.
  • Collecting papers at least one week prior to the conference. If respondents are involved, we suggest papers be collected and distributed by May 16.

• Convening the session at the conference:
  • We request that you convene the session, introduce the presenters, and moderate discussion and time.
  • An essential component of the session is the question/answer time which requires care in creating and protecting.
  • One week after the conference (July 1) the Peer Review Leader will send papers directly to the CSC Archivist, Carise Berryhill at (cmb04c@acu.edu).

  • Call for papers, and
  • List of Readers all due to Fleer
• October 1, 2011: First Web update (csc.lipscomb.edu)
  • Early sessions & abstracts posted
  • Updates once per month through December
  • Weekly updates January through June 16, 2011.
• December 21, 2011: (Suggested deadline) for abstract or paper submission
  • These submissions are to you by prospective participants,
  • This allows ample time for committee review and decision by Jan 18, 2011
• February 1, 2012: Final Session form due to Fleer

• February 1, 2012: Abstracts due to Fleer
  • One abstract for each paper
  • 85-100 word limit per abstract
• May 7: Suggested date to have papers to Respondents (if embedded in session)
• June 1: Final form of papers are due to the Peer Reviewed Leader
• June 7 - 9, 2012: The 31st Annual CSC at Lipscomb University
• July 1: Proceedings due to Carise Berryhill
  • The official archives of the Christian Scholars Conference are permanently held and made accessible for study at the Center for Restoration Studies, Brown Library, Abilene Christian University. Electronic copies may be sent to Carisse Berryhill, at (cmb04c@acu.edu).
• Models for wording the call, expectations for written abstracts, and the form of the session are available at csc.lipscomb.edu.

Travel Costs & Stipends

We expect that costs for participant’s travel and registration will be provided by the presenter’s college/university/institution. We especially welcome Christian Scholars of color and PhD students from the Churches of Christ for whom we have stipends available for travel and registration. We are pleased to support these investments in our future through the generous gifts established by family and friends of Robert Johnson and now sustained through participating institutions.
