CHARACTER COUNTS! Nashville

CHARACTER COUNTS! is a framework developed by the Josephson Institute of Ethics that provides a common vocabulary for adults and children as they learn and decide to do what's right. It is based on shared beliefs and consensus values that transcend political, religious, socio-economic, and cultural differences. Good character is not hereditary and does not happen by accident. It is something that must be developed and modeled...in the classroom, on the playing field, in the work place, in the home, and in the community.

What is CHARACTER COUNTS! Nashville?
Nashville is one of more than 500 communities in a nationwide CHARACTER COUNTS! Coalition that advocates character development. CHARACTER COUNTS! Nashville is designed to enhance the lives of Nashville's citizens by teaching and advocating an awareness of the "Six Pillars of Character." A diverse steering committee provides guidance for this endeavor, but everyone has a part to play.

When you become involved, you will be asked to do three things:
--Provide a written endorsement for CHARACTER COUNTS! Nashville to the Center for Character Development at Lipscomb University.
--Display a visual of the "Six Pillars" to heighten awareness.
--Be an active participant in city-wide events.
