Internships.                                                 Back
An internship is a short-term, supervised, career-related work experience. Any university student can participate in an internship. As an intern, they can work part-time, full-time, off-campus or on-campus in either paid or unpaid positions. In addition, they can receive academic course credit for their participation in an internship.

How does a student register to get academic course credit for the internship?

The student MUST register for the internship course during the semester they are participating in the
           internship.

        • The student can't register UNTIL they recieve faculty approval, faculty override into the course, AND
          attend a MANDATORY
internship orientation.

Can a student only receive credit in his/her major field for the internship?

The student can receive credit in their major or minor field or they can choose to pursue elective
  credit
for participating in an internship. This option allows the student to earn up to 6 hours academic

 What is an internship orientation?

At the orientation we discuss the university administrative requirements which include an
Agreement, Objectives sheet, Initial Review, Monthly Logs,  Portfolio, and a Final Evaluation. You
may have additional academic requirements for the student to complete as well.

If the student is not looking to get academic course credit for the internship, their options are wide open.
