YELLOW RIBBON PROGRAM

Some things in life are free. And you deserve it.

In recognition of your selfless service since September 11, 2001, Lipscomb University is participating in the Yellow Ribbon Program at the highest level. That means free tuition for eligible military veterans and/or their families who wish to earn an undergraduate degree and the following master’s programs are offered tuition-free: accounting, business (evening MBA), counseling and psychology, education, exercise and nutrition science and theology or a graduate degree at greatly reduced tuition rate in conflict management, human resources, sustainable practice and the professional MBA. Lipscomb’s faculty, staff and administrators are committed to help you prepare for the next chapter of your life.

 

Lipscomb’s Yellow Ribbon Program

If you qualify for 100 percent of the Post-9/11 GI Bill (click here for percentages), Lipscomb University will match dollar-for-dollar the federal government aid provided through the Yellow Ribbon Program. This will allow you to earn any of the degrees in Lipscomb's Yellow Ribbon Program tuition-free.

In addition to the many student programs and activities offered at Lipscomb University, a variety of services have been specially designed for veterans, dependent beneficiaries and active duty students on campus..

• The Veterans Services Office is the point of contact on campus for all veteran issues and works to facilitate your transition from military life to university life.

• A veterans student group (Campus Veterans Organization - CVO) affords students the opportunity to meet fellow veterans on campus and provides recreational and educational activities.

 

Veterans Career Development Center

Lipscomb University’s Career Development Center offers a special program to facilitate your transition to the civilian job market. They can help you highlight your military experience on your resume and connect you to employers in the Nashville area and across the country. The Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act 2008

The Post-9/11 GI Bill is an education benefit program for individuals who served on active duty on or after Sept. 11, 2001, and is administered by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. Based on your length of service, you may be eligible to receive the cost of tuition and fees, not to exceed the most expensive in-state institution of higher education (paid to the university).

As of August 1, 2011, Private and Foreign school costs are capped at $17,500 annually and are prorated based on eligibility tiers (40%-100%) for veterans, active duty and their transferees.

You are also entitled to a percentage of

• Monthly housing allowance equal to the basic allowance for housing payable to a military E-5 with dependents, in the same zip code as your school (paid to you);

• Yearly book and supplies stipend of up to $1,000 per year (paid to you); and

• A one-time payment of $500 paid to certain individuals relocating from highly rural areas.
