ADVANCE Orientation 2013
Want to get the inside scoop on life at Lipscomb, your class schedule, and all things college before the fall semester begins?
ADVANCE is a summer orientation program for first-time Lipscomb students and their parents. Participation in ADVANCE offers distinct advantages to both new students and parents and provides a great look at the Lipscomb collegiate experience.
At ADVANCE, students will learn about campus life, meet with an academic advisor, enroll for classes and begin to develop friendships with other new Lipscomb students! All of this by participating in a variety of informative, interesting and fun activities, several of which are hosted by members of our Quest Orientation Team.
Parents who attend ADVANCE will meet university personnel, tour campus, interact with other parents, and attend sessions full of information on everything from financial aid to the adjustments they will face as the parents of a college student. The charge is only $25 per parent, and covers a special catered parent lunch, breakfast the following morning, breaks, and session materials. To insure a seamless process, parents should pre-register for ADVANCE.
To Register for any of our orientation programs students must first have been accepted for admission to the university.
Freshman ADVANCE 2013 Dates: June 13-14; July 8-9; and August 12-13. Freshman students must pay their $250 enrollment deposit before registering for ADVANCE. Please note: Students coming to ADVANCE must be present for all ADVANCE activities on both days. All June and July ADVANCE participants are required to spend one night on campus. The August ADVANCE is immediately followed by QuestWeek Fall Orientation which all freshmen are required to attend.

Transfer ADVANCE 2013, on August 12-13, is immediately followed by QuestWeek Fall Orientation which all transfers under age 21 are required to attend. Because Transfers do not pay an enrollment deposit, they will be charged a $99 Transfer ADVANCE fee when they complete the online ADVANCE registration process. The fee for QuestWeek Orientation will be charged to the fall accounts of transfers under age 21.
QuestWeek dates: August 13-18
QuestWeek Fall Orientation begins at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13, in Collins Alumni Auditorium. This program, required of all Freshmen and of all Transfers under 21, provides great opportunities for new students to maximize their Lipscomb college experience through a unique experience of planned sessions and activities, including an introduction to the city of Nashville. LU1103 and EN0110 students will receive participation points for attending core orientation sessions. QuestWeek also marks the start of Freshman Seminar Classes (which meet twice) and special activities for transfers. Signature QuestWeek events include "The Event," (a popular new student dinner); an afternoon of service in the Nashville community; and Initium, a special welcome to the university's academic community.
