Dr. McDowell earned his undergraduate degree from Freed-Hardeman University and continued his education at Lipscomb, earning a Master of Arts in Religion. He earned his doctorate in Higher Education Leadership from Azusa Pacific University. McDowell directs the Office of Campus Life. A graduate of Lipscomb University, Sarah Keith earned a master of arts in psychology from Middle Tennessee State University. She is the director of ADVANCE, the first component of the university's undergraduate orientation program and is a member of the leadership team that coordinates QuestWeek and New Student Express, the fall orientation programs for new undergraduate students. Sarah Keith also coordinates the annual Spring Service Day; is coordinator of the Lipscomb Care Team, an initiative designed to provide pastoral care to Lipscomb students who need encouragement and support in times of stress or grief; and is a member of the Lipscomb Homecoming Committee. In addition, since 1985 Sarah Keith has served as coordinator/producer of Singarama, Lipscomb's annual musical show. She is a member of the National Orientation Directors Association and was the inaugural recipient of the SGA Faculty-Staff Recognition Award and is a past winner of Lipscomb’s Outstanding Staff Member Award. Prior to his work as the Associate Dean of Campus Life, Dr. Smith served as the Chapel Coordinator, Assistant Head Resident of High Rise, and Head Resident of Sewell Hall. He earned a B.A. and M.A. in Biblical studies from Lipscomb University and a doctorate in Higher Education Leadership from Union University. Sam and his family (wife Lisa, daughter Brooklyn, and sons Bear and Boden) live on campus and experience the pulse of the student body by programming, building relationships, and mentoring students. Jenny holds a Bachelors degree in Accounting and Management from Lipscomb and a MAcc from the University of Tennessee. She is a Certified Public Accountant, but her true passion is helping students discover the person that God created them to be. Jenny serves as the Student Government Association advisor and oversees student organizations including Greek Life, professional clubs and other student interest groups. Tenielle graduated in 2005 from Lipscomb University with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science and a minor in biology. After graduating from Lipscomb, she attended the University of Memphis to earn a master’s degree in journalism and public relations. There she worked with Professor Bob Levey, a former columnist for The Washington Post, to collect biographies and perspectives of minority students. After returning to Nashville, Buchanan worked at the Center for Nashville Studies housed at Vanderbilt University, where she coordinated events and maintained the center’s Web site. Jim earned his undergraduate degree in Kinesiology in 1992 from Angelo State University. He later earned graduate degrees in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Military Operational Art and Science from Air University. Jim is a retired Lieutenant Colonel from the U.S. Air Force following 22 years of military service and has deployed numerous times to the Middle-East region in support of operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Jim's primary focus is the care and success of our veteran students. The Veterans Service office provides support to all campus veteran students and their families. Additionally, it is the University's focal point for liaison activities, interacting with local, state and national level veterans organizations. Jessie joined the student development staff in 2011 to establish a latino program in the Office of Intercultural Engagement and Development. Prior to joining Lipscomb, Jessie was well-known in Nashville’s Latino community as the director of the YMCA of Middle Tennessee’s Latino Achievers Program. Jessie is devoted to student development, multicultural awareness and fund-raising for the My Generation/Mi Generación Scholars program.Van De Griek, who was born in Arizona and grew up spending much of her childhood in Mexico, is familiar with the challenges faced by Latino students in the new millennium. Her mother was a field worker and by the time she was in the sixth grade, Van De Griek had attended 13 schools. Despite such educational barriers, Van De Griek became the first in her family to graduate high school and to attend college. Three-and-a-half years ago, she joined the YMCA to help today’s students achieve those same accomplishments despite the barriers in their culture.

Kristin earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sports and Exercise Science from Trevecca Nazarene University in 2007 where she was also a member of the Women’s basketball team. She earned her Master’s degree in Education from Lipscomb University in 2011. Kristin has been working at Lipscomb since 2008 and joined the Campus Life team in the Spring of 2011. Originally from Detroit, MI Sylvia graduated from Lipscomb in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She also holds a Master of Art in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix. After working several years in social services, Sylvia returned to Lipscomb as the international recruiter in 2007. With a focus on meeting the needs of students coming to Lipscomb from outside of the United States Sylvia transitioned to the Office of Campus Life as the Coordinator of International Student Services in 2011. Sylvia and her husband have three children and worship at the Schrader Lane Church of Christ. Paul L. Cates
Director Counseling Center Paul has been the Lipscomb University Counseling Center Director for twenty-seven years. Prior to that, he served as a Campus Minister at Auburn University for fifteen years. He received a B.A. and M.A. from Abilene Christian University in Bible and in New Testament Studies, and a M.Ed. and Ed.D. from Auburn University in Rehabilitation Counseling and in College Student Development, and did post-doctoral study in Marriage and Family Therapy. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist, and is a Clinical Member and Approved Supervisor with the American Association for Marriage and Family therapists. Paul has served as an Elder of the Harpeth Hills Church of Christ for twenty-two years. He is married to Janet Cates, Lipscomb University’s Registrar. They have two daughters and four grandchildren.

Andrew is a graduate of Lipscomb University and recieved his master's degree in conflict management. As the Director of the Lipscomb Racquet Club, Harris oversees programming for both Lipscomb students and the community in Nashville. Cathy R. Lincoln
Administrative Assistant Counseling Center Cathy Lincoln has been with Lipscomb for eight years. Prior to coming to Lipscomb, she was Executive Secretary at BellSouth for twenty-seven years. Cathy's primary duties in the Counseling Center include office management, scheduling counseling and testing appointments, as well as supervising student workers. Cathy and her husband Alan have three daughters. They are active members at Crieve Hall Church of Christ.

Melissa Lowry is Associate Director of Student Advocacy, serving as the campus life liaison for student retention. She assists in promoting student success, satisfaction and persistence for the undergraduate population. In 2009, Melissa started the Reclaim Tomorrow Center at Lipscomb University, which seeks to serve the Nashville community, providing career counseling and networking opportunities for all those in career transition. Before moving to Nashville in 2008, Melissa worked for American Airlines, Inc., as marketing manager in the AAdvantage Division, where she provided marketing and account management for over 60 AAdvantage partners. Melissa completed her Master of Business Administration at Southern Methodist University in 2004. She earned her undergraduate degree in organizational communication from Pepperdine University.

Dave holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Child Development with an emphasis in Adolescent Development from Auburn University, a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Trevecca University, and is completing a Doctor of Education degree at Vanderbilt University. Mike Smith has been the Residence Hall Director for High Rise Hall since Fall of 2000. He graduated from Lipscomb University in 1982 and received his MBA in 2004. Mike and his wife Susan have been married for 27 years and have two grown sons Seth and Nathan. Mike and Susan attend Woodmont Hills Church of Christ.

Monica has a Masters of Education and Bachelors degree in Finance from Lipscomb. She is passionate about helping students reach their full potential by focusing on their professional development. In the CDC, she works to connect students to employers and assist employers in their hiring needs. She has also worked in Talent Acquisition for Comdata Corporation recruiting for entry level and management level positions. Because of her belief in educating and assisting job seekers as they transition careers, she has volunteered with Nashville Career Transition Group. A member NACE and TACE.

Allison serves as the Career Development Coordinator. After graduating from Lipscomb University in 2003, she continued her education and received a Master's degree of Counseling at Trevecca Nazarene University. She is currently pursuing licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor while seeing clients at AGAPE. She believes in the importance of developing a strong support system between students and staff while facilitating internships and counseling.

Jonathan graduated in May 2011 from Lipscomb University with a bachelor's degree in exercise science and a minor in biology. As a student he competed four years in cross country and track and worked as a Resident Assistant from August 2008 - May 2011. Being a Resident Assistant in Sewell Hall is where he found his love for campus life and student development.
