Dr. Sam Smith Prior to his work as the Associate Dean of Students, Dr. Smith served as the Chapel Coordinator, Assistant Head Resident of High Rise, and Head Resident of Sewell Hall. He earned a B.A. and M.A. in Biblical studies from Lipscomb University and a doctorate in Higher Education Leadership from Union University. Sam and his family (wife Lisa, daughter Brooklyn, and sons Bear and Boden) live on campus and experience the pulse of the student body by programming, building relationships, and mentoring students. Sam’s enthusiasm for student development and excitement for true Kingdom living drive his passion for his work at Lipscomb.

Kristin Blankenship Kristin earned her Bachelors’ degree on Sports and Exercise Science from Trevecca Nazarene University in 2007 where she was also a member of the Women’s basketball team. She earned her Master’s degree in Education from Lipscomb University in 2011. Kristin has been working at Lipscomb since 2008 and joined the Campus Life team in the Spring of 2011. She and her husband, Aaron, have two daughters, Aubrey and Alexis.

Taryn Hill Taryn graduated from Lipscomb University in May of 2011 with a Bachelors of Science in Family Relations. During her time as an undergraduate student, she was involved in Residence Life as a Resident Assistant, worked as a Campus Ministry Intern, and attended the Focus Leadership Institute at Focus on the Family in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Laurie Sain Laurie has been part of the Residence Life team for eleven years and the Residence Hall Director of Fanning Hall for the past six years. She graduated from Lipscomb University with an undergraduate degree in Psychology in 2008. Laurie and her Husband, Aaron, have been married for 23 years. They have two children, Adam, a freshman at Lipscomb University, and Taylor, an eighth grader at Lipscomb Academy. Laurie and her family attend Tusculum Church of Christ.

Mike Smith Mike Smith has been the Residence Hall Director for High Rise since fall of 2000. He graduated from Lipscomb University in 1982 and received his MBA in 2004. Mike and his wife, Susan, have been married for 27 years and have two grown sons, Seth and Nathan. Mike and Susan attend Woodmont Hills Church of Christ.

Caroline Gallagher Caroline joined the Residence Life team in July 2011 as the Residence Hall Director for Johnson Hall. Prior to this appointment, she was a Residence Assistant in Elam Hall for two year. Caroline graduated in May of 2012 from Lipscomb University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in International Business. Caroline received the Sarah Keith Gamble Award of Excellence in 2011. During her undergraduate studies, Caroline traveled to Ghana, West Africa the summers of 2009, 2010 and was the student Team Leader fro the trip in 2011. She is passionate about international missions and hopes to one day return to Africa and start an orphanage.

Sam Parnell Sam obtained his Bachelor of Arts on Public Relations in 2004 and his Masters of Arts in Christian Studies in 2007 from Lipscomb University. He is currently enrolled at Tennessee State University working towards an Ed. D. in Higher Education Administration. Sam has worked in the Campus Life office at Lipscomb University for nine years. During this time, he has served as the Assistant Head Resident of High Rise and the Coordinator of Small Groups for Campus Ministry. Currently, Sam is Director of Greek Life and Residence Hall Director of Sewell Hall. He and his wife, Kristina, have two sons, Eli and Luke, and a daughter, Kate.

Jonathan Williams Jonathan graduated in May of 2011 from Lipscomb University with a Bachelors degree in Exercise Science and a minor in Biology. As a student, Jonathan competed four years in cross country and track and worked as a Resident Assistant from August 2008 – May 2011. Being a Resident Assistant in Sewell Hall is where he found his love for campus life and student development. Jonathan is now working on his Masters degree in Exercise and Nutrition Science.
